About
"Optimal Location for Student Living" is the product of an assigned, team-oriented, GIS research project. The purpose of the project was to apply our skills with mapping and knowledge of ArcGIS principles to address a site-related research inquiry. Since all group members were residing in Manhattan, Kansas area while attending school, we decided the region around Kansas State University was an optimal study location. During the inquiry brainstorming stage, we generated the following question: Where are the optimal (off campus) locations for (college) students to live while attending Kansas State University? We subsequently developed a criterion based on our experiences of the general necessities and barriers to define our optimal location for student living in Manhattan. Finally, by applying our criterion we discovered three optimal locations [Green with Black Border (Slide 10)] for students who want to live off campus while attending Kansas State University.
