About
In the spring of 2012, Kansas State University became a Finalist in the "Parks for the People" design competition for our work titled "The People's Park". This competition was organized by Van Alen Institute and the U.S. National Park Service with the purpose of having students generate innovative concepts for the planning and design of national parks for the twenty-first century. Our product, "The People's Park," provided an extensive yet comprehensive framework based on our understanding of the Nicodemus park and the National Park Service as a whole.
Study Area: Nicodemus, Kansas
TeamThis competition was completed under the supervision of Professor LaBarbara Wigfall and Professor Josh Cheek with assistance from the Van Alen Institute, National Park Service, National Parks Conservation, Kansas Historical Society, additional Kansas State University Faculty and Staff, and the Nicodemus Representatives. Including myself, there were a total of 32 students who participated in the competition for the Kansas State University team.
